The T5.1 comes with a 2.0 common rail diesel (CR) engine available in 84, 102, 115, 140, and 180 bhp. The 84, 102, 115, and 140 bhp models are mechanically identical, differing mainly in their gearboxes. The 140 bhp models have either a 6-speed manual or DSG (automatic) gearbox, while the lower bhp variants have a 5-speed manual. All these models feature the Bosch EDC17CP20 engine control unit, which is ideal for tuning. Six-speed or DSG models handle up to 420 NM of torque, while five-speed models need torque capped below 350 NM, peaking smoothly around 3000 RPM. Improper tuning can lead to costly issues like clutch, flywheel, or gearbox failures. The BITDI 180 bhp variants require careful tuning due to their lower reliability compared to single turbo models. Tuning typically takes 60-90 minutes, and you are welcome to stay with your van during the process.
140 bhp and 180 bhp models with a DSG gearbox can be tuned for faster shift times, improved shift points, and an optimised driving experience.
DSG tuning costs £245 on its own or £150 with an engine tune. Before tuning, we perform a full diagnostics check and data logs to ensure your vehicle’s health. DPF regeneration and minor adaptations are included at no additional cost.
